► About the Speaker

Levonne Louie is a retired oil and gas professional with almost forty years of experience in the energy industry and she brings considerable leadership experience to her present board positions. Her experience includes strategic planning, negotiations, dispute resolution and mediation, collaboration amongst groups, engagement of multiple stakeholders, finance and governance.

She holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a Master of Business Administration, all from the University of Calgary. A graduate of the Directors Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors, Ms. Louie was granted the ICD.D designation in 2011. Levonne received her Training Qualifications UK Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 2021.

Ms. Louie has published three books based on her experiences in the oil and gas industry. Her goal is to explain the complexities of the oil and gas industry in layman’s terms. Her first two books, Mineral Land Rights – What You Need to Know and Upstream – Oil and Gas Exploration and Production – an Overview explain various facets of the industry in jargon free language. Her third book, Blazing Trails – A Lifetime of Speaking Up, Standing Out and Staying True to Myself, delves into her deep oil and gas experience to draw out gems of wisdom she has collected along her journey.

Levonne is deeply involved in her community. Levonne was a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL) from 1980 to 2020, where she was granted the Professional Landman (P.Land) designation in 1990. She served three terms on their board and received a CAPL Special Recognition Award in 2015. She was named the 2019 Legacy Leader by the Canadian Association of Land Administrators. She is presently serving as a Public Member on the Council of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and chairs their Governance Committee and Strategic Planning Working Group as well as serving on the Finance and Audit Committee. She is also a board member for the Calgary Convention Centre Authority. In addition, she is a member in good standing of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
